Wow! We did it! We survived our first week 'Back to School!' I am so pleased that so many of you have found your way here. I really hope you enjoy knowing what we are working on and find out how you can continue to practice our new skills at home. If you have any feedback, I truly welcome it, as this is a resource for you :) Most students have had a super week and are adjusting extremely well to having a new teacher in their classroom. I am looking forward to having all of our wrinkles ironed out :) Our week at a glance - This week, we focused on our new routines (ie. what to do when the students come in from recess) and expectations (ie. how to participate in our classroom discussions). These are definitely coming along! Each class has their strengths, and I am so pleased with the improvement I have seen over the course of the week.
In Math, we are wrapping up the unit that was started with Ms. Kinsman - 3D geometry. The grade 4s were working on naming, sorting and classifying shapes, and the grade 6s tried their hand at some 3 part problem solving! Both groups found the activities challenging, but I loved seeing the light bulbs go off! Please ask your child what they thought of the activity :) Both classes will be moving to measurement soon. In order to keep the blog concise and effective, I have created individual pages for each grade. I will hyperlink the text in my blog posts so that you can quickly see if an update applies to you (and your family) or not. I hope this helps! Update for Grade 4 Update for Grade 6 As always, if you have any feedback on the website, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Wishing you a restful weekend :) Ms. W.
