I am really excited to finally be able to share this incredible resource for practicing math skills at home. Khan Academy has been an invaluable free resource for parents, teachers and students for years. As a teacher, I love that I am able to assign individual activities to students, see student progress and have this resource guide my instruction. As a ‘parent’ to many student accounts over the years, I appreciate being in control of the privacy and account settings for the students and monitoring their progress - I also love that students can watch, rewind and replay lessons on the subjects that we cover in class and then practice the skills. As a student, I love the instant feedback, interface, video lessons and ease of use (yes I use it too!). I also love that Khan Academy continues to expand and add content including computer programming and science.
I'm excited to invite all families to check out this resource and add me as a coach to your child’s account. It's very simple to do:
A few ‘pro tips’:
If you have any questions, please let me know. Ideally, each child will have an account by March Break so that we are able to use the computer lab for practice! I hope you love this resource as much as I do! :) -Ms. W. Just a quick reminder about tomorrow's Meet & Greet! Come say 'Hello!' between 3pm and 5pm, Tuesday February 9th. I will be in room 124. Please sign into the office when you arrive. I am looking forward to meeting you!
Update for Grade 4 Update for Grade 6 Also, don't forget that this Friday, Feb 12 is a PA day, so there is no class for students. Also, Monday is a holiday! Enjoy the time together :) -Ms. W. I will be hosting a ‘Meet & Greet’ on Tuesday, February the 9th from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Please feel free to come and say hello!
The classroom (room 124) will be open, and I will be available to show you the class, chat, and answer curriculum related questions. Students are welcome to join (after school) and show you their work. Unfortunately, this will not be a time to discuss individual progress, but please feel free to email me to arrange a time to discuss your child. I am looking forward to meeting you! |
