This book is full of rich imagery, opportunities for making connections, close reading, and inspiration. We will be ‘studying’ many of the poems mentioned in the book, and will be writing many of our own with an end goal of creating a Grade 4 Poetry Anthology and adding them to our Poetree. Week by week, this book will be guiding us through our unit! Please feel free to grab a copy from the OPL and read along :)
We will also be writing an ‘open-book’ test at the end of the unit/month - more on this later! In Math - we are going to spend a little more time solidifying our multiplication and division skills! Students should be able to mulitply 2 digits by 1 digit and have been taught the skills to extend it even more (3 digit by 1 digit). :) Practice, practice, practice! |

The students have decided they would like to have a PJ party, and since we see each other first thing in the morning, we've opted for a breakfast food theme. Students have already started to volunteer to bring items to our 'pot luck' style party (see the picture to the R). Click here to see the full list. Though I would really like to encourage all students to bring something to contribute, participation is purely optional. If you'd like to bring additional items to help balance our morning out or add your child to the list, all contributions will be welcomed with open arms :) Quantities may be adjusted so we don't end up with a ton of food! Please email or send a note in the agenda with any changes we should make.
We will likely be watching a video that day, as well! Should be a lot of fun, and the best part - the students totally deserve it! :) |
