As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email! Wishing everyone a safe Halloween! -Ms. W. Happy (early) Halloween, everyone!
A little info about our festivities tomorrow. We will have a 'business as usual' morning. We will working on Coding during our Computer lab period, and will be playing board games during our last hour. We have decided to forego snacks for our Halloween activities, though you're welcome to send something special in your child's lunch for them (please remember that they should NOT be sharing food due to food allergies). Board games and technology are welcome (please discuss proper use of technology with your child. THERE SHOULD BE NO TEXTING [even to you!] during the school day. If you need to speak to your child, please leave a message at the office), as are appropriate costumes (keeping in mind that we share a space with 3 year olds, and masks + excess violence/weapons are not welcome). A few reminders:
Have a happy Sunday, everyone :) -Ms. W. Wow! What a marvelous day of learning. We had a full house today for our Scientists in the School presentation, titled “Classy Critters.” Our focus was discussing the classification of living things and the diversity on our planet. The students investigated the Animalia, Monera and Protista kingdoms. The students were lucky enough to have an opportunity to actually handle many specimens, and real microscopes (with real samples). Not only did the students sort and classify these specimens with enthusiasm, they showcased an incredible curiosity for the process by asking some very thoughtful questions. In true Stonecrest fashion, they also showcased their character by being incredibly respectful to the specimens and our guests, Scientist Irene, Ms. Bullen (our gracious parent volunteer), and Kelly McCarthy from the West Carleton Review. The whole day surpassed my expectations! I couldn’t be more proud of the outcome!
I hope you enjoy some of these photos! My goal is to email individual parents with some of these, so please stay tuned (or feel free to email me, and I’ll happily send along what I have). Unfortunately, I did not manage to snap photos of each student holding specimens, but I hope you enjoy the photos of the ones I did! :) Needless to say, I am feeling pretty fortunate for winning such a wonderful prize, and am so happy I could share it with such a gracious class. I can't wait to see what the Electricity workshop has in store for us! Way to represent our class, and school so well, Grade 6’s!!! -Ms. W OUR AGENDAS ARE FINALLY HERE! Wooo!
To all of the students who have patiently been waiting for a 'real' agenda, THANK YOU! They will be sent home today. :) A quick reminder that your children should be asking for a signature in the evening. If there is anything in the agenda that you have questions about (that your child cannot answer), please do not hesitate to email me with any questions. With many thanks! -Ms. W. Monday -
Two tasks that were used as assessment are coming home for your signature. Please sign and return. If you don't see these come home, please ask for them. -Ms. W. Happy Sunday everyone!
I hope this sees everyone doing well. A few reminders and announcements to start:
