Wow! What a marvelous day of learning. We had a full house today for our Scientists in the School presentation, titled “Classy Critters.” Our focus was discussing the classification of living things and the diversity on our planet. The students investigated the Animalia, Monera and Protista kingdoms. The students were lucky enough to have an opportunity to actually handle many specimens, and real microscopes (with real samples). Not only did the students sort and classify these specimens with enthusiasm, they showcased an incredible curiosity for the process by asking some very thoughtful questions. In true Stonecrest fashion, they also showcased their character by being incredibly respectful to the specimens and our guests, Scientist Irene, Ms. Bullen (our gracious parent volunteer), and Kelly McCarthy from the West Carleton Review. The whole day surpassed my expectations! I couldn’t be more proud of the outcome!
I hope you enjoy some of these photos! My goal is to email individual parents with some of these, so please stay tuned (or feel free to email me, and I’ll happily send along what I have). Unfortunately, I did not manage to snap photos of each student holding specimens, but I hope you enjoy the photos of the ones I did! :) Needless to say, I am feeling pretty fortunate for winning such a wonderful prize, and am so happy I could share it with such a gracious class. I can't wait to see what the Electricity workshop has in store for us! Way to represent our class, and school so well, Grade 6’s!!! -Ms. W Comments are closed.
